First Centennial Mortgage and Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity Complete Home Build Project
Aurora, IL – November 23, 2021
First Centennial Mortgage and Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity have completed the first ever Habitat home in Batavia, IL. First Centennial Mortgage donated $175,000 to fund the building which will now house the Owinos, a family from Kenya.
“It’s been over a year since we broke ground on this project. We are so thrilled to turn over the keys and finally welcome the Owino family into their new home,” said Steven McCormick, president, First Centennial Mortgage.
First Centennial Mortgage started this project in 2020 when it celebrated its 25th anniversary of being in business. Said McCormick, “We wanted to do something special to thank our communities for supporting us all these years. We were thrilled when Habitat offered us this opportunity.” Steven McCormick currently serves as the Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity Board Chairman.
On November 20, 2021 the house was officially completed and dedicated in a ceremony co-hosted by Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, and Steven and David McCormick of First Centennial Mortgage. Community partners along with Batavia’s Mayor Jeffery Schielke also attended. The Owinos will move into the new home before the end of the year.
